Update : Rootwyrm says it’s a fraud. Sad. But see the other wagon too.
It’s not a manual, but otherwise isn’t this the Jalopnik dream? One of apparently only 50 ever made.

Update: if that doesn’t float your boat, here’s another wagon.

Did you seriously just ask if a freaking K car was Jalopnik? It absolutely isn’t, those are garbage vehicles.
It is, however, extremely Oppo.

No manual, and no rotary diesel either. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Thank goodness your day is almost over. I am, however, regretful and shall refrain from speculating on future brown wagons.

That’s pretty cool. But 5k? Nah
![]() 12/16/2018 at 23:22 |

Yeah, I’d never pay 5k for a K car. Not even $500. But some Radwood enthusiast
might be crazy enough.

What's more Oppo, rotary diesel or coal turbine?

That technically an E chassis not a K. Don’t worry we’ve all made such foolish mistakes

I was wrong

When a Reliant K becomes a dream car you know nostalgia and/or irony have triumphed.

A little of column A, a little of column B.
And a Jeep guy who barely notices anything that isn’t a Jeep or a convertible.

Maybe this one instead, but even pricier.

Too many modifications, not enough maintenance history, no evidence it’s the real deal. (Reminder: I am very fucking much a Turbo Dodge expert.)
First of all, wrong seats. Entirely wrong. Those are ‘ 86 up Daytona seats. With the completely wrong upholstery. The wheels are completely and utterly wrong - those are CS Pumper 16's. Absolutely no reason for them. Turbo I engine is suspiciously clean. None of them are that clean. Claims to be rebuilt with a Shelby CSX K-frame, except that ain’t a valid interchange here . This thing is hacked to all fuck with a whole bunch of buzzword parts.
$5k? Only if this thing was all original and documented with the original paint or complete receipts showing the repaint was done CORRECTLY. (Which requires STRIPPING TO METAL.) It has none of these things.
$500, tops.

I don’t know if everyone who clicks that gets shown the same video, but thank you for directing me to one about a gorgeous Jeep Wagoneer!

What, I’ve been duped by a CL post? Say it ain’t so!

Maybe they just like aughts pop-rock

Oh, they’re damn good at spinning bullshit.
But this also ain’t no Turbo Wagon. And they weren’t that rare at all.
Seller in this case? Total fucking scammer. Didn’t even pull the SE badges.
This is a turbo wagon hood . This or solid. Nothing else is real.
Note double vents, using the Daytona part turned 90 degrees, and painted instead of black.

30% more price, 10x the car.

Rebuilt title, sad! I’d pay $ 1,000

Read the rest of the comments, sounds like you’d be ripped off at 1k.

Those “garbage” vehicles happen to be able to pull 12 sec quarters with very little work.

I’d be in at $1500 given all the wrong mods. I’d just use it for a track bitch anyway. $5k, he fell and hit every branch on the way down.
These things are coming up substantially in value though, so given the condition, he’s probably only about $1500 off in reality.

As someone who’d love to get one just to build a sleeper out of it, maybe some of us just know the hidden potential more than others.

When my grandmother passed in about 2002 I “inherited” her 30,000 mile 1981 Aires wagon - brown - but definitely it was NOT a turbo. It was awful to drive as it probably had never had a single component replaced, ever. If I had been more mechanically inclined at the time, I probably could have gotten in into much better shape for not much money, as the body and interior were NEW.
But I digress.
